There are a plethora of acronyms cover the three letters PPM. Some cover very obscure topics. But the PPM’s that I am interested in effect the way organisations change and adapt, it is what I am passionate about. Namely the collaborative leadership, consulting, strategic planning, and management of projects and programmes that drive organisations to succeed in ever more challenging environments.
The PPM acronyms of interest are “Project Portfolio Management” and “Program and Project Management”. As a seasoned PPM executive, these two areas encompass what I do and what I have done for the last 18 years. Specifically Project Management (PM), Programme Management (PgM) and Portfolio Management (PfM).
Many companies and organisations are faced with strategic initiatives that must be managed effectively and successfully. PPM enables a portfolio of projects to be strategically managed, from establishing, prioritising, aligning projects with strategy, to balancing the portfolio with internal and external demands, through to sustaining a change culture through continuous improvement.
